Game trailers

I researched four game trailers to help develop my own game trailer. I looked at GTA 5, Forza 5, F1 2013 and Destiny.

After looking into these trailers, I found key descriptions of each of the trailers; Variety from GTA 5, high detail from Forza 5, drama from F1 2013 and showcasing the character & vehicles from destiny.

As I have made an Iron man character, I will make a game trailer for Iron man 'Iron man game' Firstly you will see the title of the game followed by gameplay 'flying, shooting, boss fight', then followed by release date with consoles. This will be a 2D trailer with the character below.

In this mood board, I have looked at the Iron man film for inspiration. I looked at the setting and the vehicles. I looked at the colours of the environment, the character and vehicles to help my animation seem as real as I can make it.

Some graphics for my game trailer.

I got inspiration from this game trailer and the iron man films. I created these graphics because I feel that it shows the variety of locations and vehicles which could appear in the game.

I also took screen shots from the trailer to use in my animated game trailer.

I wanted to show action and different locations. I did this by having different locations in the trailer and showing action by using tanks and jets in a battle.

Target audience

I intended to aim my game trailer at 12 to 16 year old. I feel that this is the correct age group to aim at because they are at an age where they can enjoy playing as there favourite superhero and be at an appropriate age to witness violence. Although I intend this to be aimed at a younger audience, fans of Iron man and Marvel might play it, so I needed to find a balance within the trailer.I researched game trailers to see how they display the qualities to the audience in different manners. I found that they show variety, detail and drama.

Character creation

I created this character in photoshop using a tablet and then separated the character parts using the lasso tool and putting them in separate layers.

After putting the parts into separate layers, we then imported them into Adobe after effects.

The parts came in all on top of each other, so we had to re-arrange the parts together and move the anchor points so we could animated the body parts.

We then animated the character we created with after effects. I only made small changes to see how the animation works in after effects.

Puppet Pin tool

The puppet pin tool makes the character have a more human effect to it, it makes it flow together. It doesn't work with my character as it is slightly robotic.

After Effects

Today we completed a demo on using Adobe after effects. In this we made a basic trailer where we made text move onto the screen and use lighting in the trailer.
